A potentially serious crime, distributing child pornography is a felony. Sexting (sex and texting) is the act of sending sexually explicit photos electronically, primarily between cell phones and email. It is practiced primarily by young adults, though it is known to occur amongst juveniles as young as middle-school age.
Sexting has possibly led to unintended, severe, consequences. Sexting has been linked to severe embarrassment when photos are passed to people other than the intended recipient, and has even contributed to the suicide of the sexting initiator.
